Edojus' Account of Session 6

We started off just outside town after having escaped outside the walls. Eumaeus almost staggered back towards the city, but we dragged him along up the hill away from town. At the top of the ridge we saw a platoon of whitecloaks approaching our area. We soon found an outcropping of roots to hide under. It was shallow and prevented us from fleeing further, but it offered some immediatete camouflage. Indus was part of the search party and almost found us, but we miraculously escaped detection. We did overhear her swearing to slay the dark friends for killing her grandfather. She seemed to be quite perturbed about it.

At one end of the washout under the roots Edojus found a stone block that seemed unnatural in placement and design. The rock seemed as if it could be pushed inwards, but was mysteriously held in place. Only after Edojus summoned great strength from within, and combining efforts with Roger, were they able to push the rock inwards to discover it was held in place by spider webs from the inside. Behind the stone was an underground tunnel filled with spider webs. After much time cutting back the webs and working our way inwards we were able to open enough area for us to squeeze into. There were spiders of all sizes lurking in the webs, but at first they stayed away from the light. Meanwhile the search was continuing outside. Multiple times the searches came ever closer. Finally we were able to get everyone inside with the spiders, (a few of which were rather large) and closed the door behind us. With the door of the cave closed, Gwen ignited the center of the web and quickly burned it down, killing the smallest of the spiders. The rest were enraged and attacked. Roger and Eumaeus were able to hold off the hoards, and Arianne cast a fear spell sending one group fleeing. A quick pummeling from Roger, Eumaeus and Jason (including being stuck with an arrow in the vitals, and punched viscously right in the spinneret!) we sent the giant spider fleeing back into the darkness. We entered into what appeared to be an altar room of some sort. There was a statue of a woman against the back wall with her hands outstretched and palms up. Around it, on a raised platform along the outer edge there was a small trench like depression with an oily residue at the bottom. Parallel to it were two strips of worked metal shaped into a flame pattern. To either side of the statue embossed and decorated metal plates were mounted on the wall. One depicting a pyramid with a beam of light coming out of the top, with a box underneath it upon which a gem rested. The other was another pyramid, also with a representation of a gem. We concluded that the one with a beam of light represented the place we had already been to. What the other one symbolized we could not guess, and neither could we decipher the runes written around both plates. Gwen did some self-hypnosis to help memorize the symbols on the mysterious one. At this time our only source of light continued to be a minor light spell Jason had cast, which only produced a candle’s light, and had to be maintained every minute. We were able to keep the light going only by Edojus channeling, and then lending strength to Jason every two or three minutes. After thoroughly fucking around for way too long, we heard the sound of someone approaching. Two men came down the hole into the tunnel, the first, and more heavily armored of the two fell, hurting his ankle. The second man referred to the first as “General”!. A fear spell from Arianne sent them fleeing back up. This only lasted a few minutes and they did return. We hid among the altar pieces and managed to avoid being seen. However as they left the party realized that if these two left, this place would be discovered as would we, and probably both likely destroyed. So as their backs were turned to leave, Jason attacked first, taking out the more crafty looking of the two. We all sprung from our hiding places and the more heavily armored general cried out righteously and attacked. At the same time the giant spider and the few of his minions that were left came out from their shadows and advanced. Once it engage the general, we all held back waiting the two to finish each other off. The spider defeated the general first, before getting repeatedly shot in the vitals by Jason, punched in the face by Roger and or Eumaeus, and was quickly defeated. Jason seemed to enjoy the deaths of the two whitecloaks a little too much which was a little odd. All in all much wierdness abounded. Once everything calmed down, we went upstairs to check if there was anyone else and there was not, save their horses and pack mule. A good deal of survival goods was absconded, and the animals released. We retreated back to our new secret base and adjourned to a well earned nights sleep.
